Zapp / Fire TV

Fire TV TV remote, on your iPhone

Control a Fire TV from your iPhone over Wi-Fi. Amazon removed the standard remote protocol, so one setting has to be switched on first — here is exactly which one.

One payment of $12.99. Never a subscription.

How it connects

Amazon removed the standard remote protocol from Fire OS, so Zapp uses the developer bridge Amazon left in place instead. That bridge is switched off by default, which is why Fire TV is the one brand with real setup.

What you have to do once

  1. On the Fire TV: Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → ADB Debugging → On.
  2. If Developer Options is not visible: Settings → My Fire TV → About, then click the first item seven times.
  3. Open Zapp, choose the Fire TV, and accept the authorisation prompt on the TV — choose "Always allow".

What it will not do

Saying this plainly is the point: a remote app that promises what it cannot deliver wastes your evening and earns a refund. If the answer above is no, it is genuinely no.
