Zapp / Pro

Zapp Pro: a TV remote app with no subscription

The whole button remote is free, on every TV you own. Pro is one payment of $9.99 for four conveniences — and on some televisions it adds nothing, which this page says plainly.

What Pro adds, brand by brand

Pro unlocks up to four things: a keyboard, one-tap app shortcuts, the LG Magic Remote pointer, and waking a TV from standby. Which of them a television can use depends on what it lets an app do:

TVPro adds
SamsungOne-tap shortcuts to the popular streaming apps your television has — YouTube, Prime Video, Apple TV, Spotify and the likeA keyboard for the TV’s own search and text fieldsWaking the TV from network standby
LGThe Magic Remote pointer — move the on-screen cursor by dragging on the phoneA keyboard that opens by itself the moment the television focuses a text field
RokuYour TV’s real app icons, pulled from the device itselfA keyboard for Roku searchWaking the Roku from network standby
Google TVNothing — everything Zapp does here is free
Fire TVA keyboard for search fields

If you only have a Google TV, don’t buy Pro: it changes nothing there. Google TV doesn’t let remote apps type, list its apps or wake it.

One payment, compared with a subscription

Remote apps are usually sold by the week. On 22 October 2026 we looked at the six most prominent third-party remote apps in a US App Store search for “tv remote”: all six offered a weekly plan, mostly priced between $4.99 and $9.99 a week, with yearly plans from $19.99 to $39.99.

At those prices, one or two weeks of a subscription costs as much as Zapp Pro does for good. Pro is a single in-app purchase of $9.99: nothing renews, and there is nothing to cancel.
